Michael Behrens Biography
Michael Behrens is an American award-winning Meteorologist working as a meteorologist and a drone pilot at WBNS 10 TV in Columbus. He joined the channel in February 2024, after working as a meteorologist at 13 ON YOUR SIDE.
Education | Career
Behrens graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and GIS in 2016. Michael currently works as a meteorologist at WBNS-TV since February 2024. In June 2013 he worked as a conveyor operator at Pearson North America until August 2013.
Later Michael went to his internship as a weather intern at WISH-TV for about 4 months. In May 2015 he became a summer intern and volunteer at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA). While Behrens was doing his internships, he attained the position of a weather specialist at WPTA, where he left.
Behrens was hired by NewsLink Indiana, where he performed his role as a weather forecaster, assistant producer, and chief weather forecaster working for about 4 years. For 5 years, he got a part-time job at WCRD 91.3 FM, where he was assigned many roles. These roles include technical operations director, chief weather forecaster, reporter, and much more.
In February 2018, Michael began his professional career as a morning meteorologist at KYTX CBS19 until June 2020. Subsequently, while still employed there, he secured a role at 13 ON YOUR SIDE, where he served as a meteorologist for 4 years.
Michael earned numerous awards for his contributions at 13 On Your Side, securing two Michigan Association of Broadcasters awards and receiving an EMMY nomination for his story on understanding hail impacts. Additionally, Michael takes pride in his efforts to keep West Michigan informed through his weather, science, and informational series titled “Here’s Why.” He is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars since August 2012.
