Education | Career
Meier attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications. He currently works as an Evening Anchor at FOX 9 in the Twin Cities. He joined the station on September 26, 2011, as a 10 pm anchor and reporting on the 5 pm news. Over the years working for FOX 9 he has anchored many of Minnesota’s biggest stories including the Kidnapping and discovery of Jacob Wetterling.
Before joining his current station, he worked as an Anchor for MSNBC for about three years. He joined MSNBC in 2003 after working as an anchor and reporter for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. During his tenure at MSNBC, he was the host of MSNBC Live and his contract with MSNBC ended on June 23, 2006.
Over the years of his professional career, he has received numerous awards and nominations for his exceptional skills in broadcast journalism. In 2002 he received an Emmy Award for his work on Oil Field of Dreams. Additionally, he received two Edward R. Murrow Awards and a Page One Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for the same report.
Randy is also active in the community and is a member of several charitable organizations in the Twin Cities. He has helped raise money for cancer research and outreach organizations. When off his duties, he spends time with his family, snowmobiling, biking, and hiking.
