Jessica Brown is an American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working at WCVB News serving as an Anchor and Reporter since she joined the station in August 2021. Formerly, Brown worked at FOX19 WXIX as a Morning News Anchor.
Education | Career
Brown studied at Florida State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree. She is currently performing her duties at the WCVB station serving as an anchor and reporter since she became part of the network in August 2021. She co-anchors NewsCenter 5 with Antoinette Antonio at noon and NewsCenter 5 with Ben Simmoneau at 4 p.m. on WCVB Channel 5. Additionally, Brown covers medical news for NewsCenter 5 as well.
Jessica worked as a lifestyle host and weekday morning anchor at Cincinnati, Ohio’s WXIX-TV before joining WCVB. Since joining WXIX in 2012, she has covered a number of high-profile incidents live and breaking news, including the Ray Tensing murder trial, the fallout from the George Floyd protests, and more.
Brown worked as an anchor and reporter for KSNF-TV and KODE-TV in Joplin, Missouri before coming to work at WXIX. There, she witnessed and reported on one of the deadliest storms in recorded history. She eventually lost her residence to the storm after riding out the tornado in her bathtub. She commends the Joplin community for its extraordinary fortitude in the face of the storm’s destruction.
Jessica started her broadcast news career more than ten years ago in Atlanta, Georgia, with WAGA-TV. The National Association of Black Journalists counts Brown as one of its active members. She feels that service is one of the ways she feels linked to her faith, and she is also highly committed to doing community work. Her interest lies in giving back to the community by serving as a mentor to young females.
