Stefan Holt is an American Emmy Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Weeknight anchor at NBC 5 Chicago. He rejoins NBC 5 after spending 4 years at WNBC in New York.
Education | Career
Holt attended and graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Political Science. While in college, he interned at KABC in Los Angeles and NBC News in London. His local news career began in West Palm Beach, Florida at WPBF where he served as a weekend anchor and reporter.
Holt currently works as a weeknight anchor at NBC 5 Chicago. He anchors the station’s weeknight newscast at 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Stefan rejoined NBC 5 Chicago after working at WNBC in New York as an anchor for 4 years. Before moving to WNBC he served as an anchor at NBC 5 Chicago News Today alongside Zoraida Sambolin. He held this role for 5 years before briefly leaving the station and later rejoining it.
Holt has received numerous awards and recognitions over the years of his professional career. He is a recipient of multiple Chicago and New York Emmy Awards. Holt was a part of the team that won a national Edward R. Murrow Award for their broadcast of the fatal 2019 police standoff in Jersey City, New Jersey.
After the death of former Cuban President Field Castro’s death, he was among the first U.S. journalists to report live. In 2017, he co-anchored news broadcasts from the Presidential Inauguration in Washington. When off his duties he enjoys outdoor activities and having a good time with family and friends.

His father Lester, is an anchor for the weekday edition of NBC Nightly News, NBC Nightly News Kids Edition, and Dateline NBC. He was born on March 8, 1959, and is 64 years old as of 2023. His parents raised him in Lincoln Park alongside his brother Cameron.
