Kye Martin Biography
Kye Martin is an American Anchor and Reporter working as a Morning Traffic Reporter and General assignment Reporter at NBC 5 Chicago. Her reports appear at 11 am on the station. Before joining her current station she worked as a Traffic Reporter for Nokia Media for about years.
Education | Career
After receiving her high school diploma, Martin joined Washington University in 1997 graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications in 2001. She began her professional career in July 2004 as a News Anchor at Pappas Telecasting Companies. She served the organization for 2 years and 1 month leaving the organization in July 2006.
Martin currently serves as a Morning Traffic Reporter and 11 a.m. General Assignment Reporter at NBC 5 Chicago. She joined the station in 2012 and has been working here ever since.
Before joining her current station she worked as a traffic reporter for four years at Nokia Media. While there she covered Chicago-area roads for CLTV and WGN-TV. Before this, she worked as a Reporter at KTXL-TV in Sacramento and as an Anchor at KMPH-TV in Fresno.
Outside work, she relishes as a mom and a member of the March of Dimes Chicago Board of Directors. She has also served for two weeks at the NICU at RUSH University Medical Center. Her experience there inspired her to use her traditional AND new media skills to promote the March of Dimes’ mission.

Parents | Family
Martin was born and raised in Seattle. Her mother, Robin works as a health coach and previously was President of Lake Forest Park Rotary and celebrates her birthday every August 30th as evidenced by Kye’s Instagram post on August 30, 2021. Unfortunately, Kye has not shared detailed information about her father and her siblings and we will therefore not talk about them for now.
