Miller attended and graduated from Mississippi State and Portland Universities where he incorporated his prowess in aviation and meteorological education. The American Meteorology Society gave him their Seal of Approval for his television and radio forecasts. He began his weather forecasting career in 1989 when he worked at FOX 32.
Miller currently works as a chief meteorologist at NBC 5 Chicago and his forecasts appear at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. He initially served the station as a weekend weather forecaster.
Besides his meteorology career on TV, Miller has entertained people for more than 2 decades on radio. He served at WZZN-FM (94.7) as a weather forecaster from 6 to 10 a.m. Over the years of his professional career, he has received numerous awards and nominations.
In 1999 and 2000, the Illinois Broadcasters Association gave him its First Place Silver Dome Awards for best TV weather segment. Additionally, he has won Chicago Emmys for a 1997 weather special: “The StormTrackers,” 1999 and 2000 for Chicago Auto Show specials. Miller supports the March of Dimes’ fight for healthy babies and other child-related charities and charities.
