Chelsea Jones Biography
Chelsea Jones is an American Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Weekend Evening Anchor at WFOR CBS4 Miami. During the week she reports for the nightside newscasts. She comes to Miami in November 2022 after working in the Northeast region.
Education | Career
Jones is a proud graduate of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism in 2017. During her time in college, she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. As of 2024, she is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Chelsea currently works as a Weekend Evening Anchor and reports during the week at CBS News Miami. She joined CBS4 in November 2022 after leaving the cold and snow of the Northeast. Jones came to South Florida from Providence, Rhode Island where she served as an anchor reporter.
Her hard work over the years has not gone unrecognized and she has won several awards and recognitions. Chelsea has two 2023 Regional and National Edward Murrow awards for her reporting on a barricaded man that ended in a shootout with Providence Police and her reporting on the Underground Railroad in Rhode Island.
Additionally, she is a two-time Emmy-nominated journalist, having been recognized by the Boston Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for her reporting on a mass shooting in Providence and her special report “Cory’s Cause,” where she highlighted a local athlete’s journey from addiction to advocacy.
During her tenure in Northeast, Chelsea won two Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Awards in 2020. In 2019 Chelsea extensively covered the governor’s race that included wall-to-wall coverage of then-President Donald Trump’s visit to Monroe and down to Baton Rouge to cover election night as incumbent Gov. John Bel Edwards won re-election.
Chelsea believes in giving back to the community. She has served as an emcee for several community events in South Florida, Rhode Island, and Louisiana. In 2023, she was the moderator for a panel entitled: Phenomenal Women Impacting the Political, Economic, and Cultural Landscape.
