Meghan Torjussen Biography
Meghan Torjussen is an American Anchor and Reporter working as an Evening Anchor at WMTW in Portland, Maine. She anchors the noon, 5 pm, and 6 pm newscasts. She joined the station in September 2010 as a weekend general assignment reporter and was later promoted to her current role.
Education | Career
Torjussen attended and graduated from Boston University in June 2008 with a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. While in graduate school, she interned in New York City at WNBC. She currently works as a noon, 5 pm, and 6 pm newscast at WMTW in Portland, Maine. She has been part of the station since September 2010. Meghan initially served the station as a general assignment reporter and was later promoted to her current role.
Meghan has been a member of the WMTW news team for more than a decade. Over the years working at WMTW, she has helped launch award-winning newscasts, including WMTW News 8 at 4 p.m., which won a Best Newscast award in its first year, and the 10 p.m. on Maine’s CW.
Meghan has covered some of the biggest stories in the Maine area, including the Boston Marathon bombing and the death of President George H.W. Bush, even traveling to Houston to cover his funeral. Additionally, Meghan covered several stories surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, including an in-depth look at learning loss in our schools. She has also hosted and contributed to station-produced specials ranging from gun violence to Portland’s asylum seeker surge.
Before joining her current station she spent four years as an anchor and reporter in Wilmington, North Carolina. Besides her professional work, Meghan is committed to community service. She sits on the Art in the Park committee in South Portland, as well as So Po Unite, a group dedicated to curbing drug and alcohol use among young people.
