Education | Career
Burnett is a proud graduate of Barnstable High School where he graduated with a high school diploma. He then joined Rutgers University where he graduated with a Degree in Meteorology. Additionally, he holds teacher certification in both Mathematics and Earth Science and briefly taught high school science and math.
Burnett also holds the AMS Television Seal of Approval and is a member of the American Meteorological Society. He currently works as a weather producer and meteorologist for WCVB in Boston. He joined the station in January 2016 and has since covered numerous storms and severe weather in the area.
Burnett has worked at several television stations in New England, including WFXT in Boston, WLBZ2 in Maine, WCVB and WMUR in New Hampshire. He has covered numerous stories including the January Nor’easter of 2018, the Blizzard of 2013, Super Storm Sandy, and the Tornado Outbreak in eastern Massachusetts in 2011.
His meteorology excellence has not gone unnoticed Burnett has won numerous awards and recognitions. He received a regional Emmy Award in 2022 and has been nominated multiple times for his work with NewsCenter 5 and Chronicle teams covering climate change.
