Alby Oxenreiter Biography
Alby Oxenreiter is an American Sports Anchor and Reporter working as the Main Sports Anchor for WPXI in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the longest-running sports anchor in Pittsburgh and the most respected sportscaster who has been part of the WPXI sports team since January 2006.
Education | Career
Oxenreiter attended and graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. After graduating, he began his career as a sports anchor and reporter in Grand Junction, Colorado before moving to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He arrived in Pittsburgh in January 2006 after working for both WTAE-TV and WPGH-TV as a Sports Anchor.
Oxenreiter is the main sports anchor at WPXI and enjoys everything to do with sports. His career has earned him numerous press awards and a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for outstanding individual achievement. Additionally, he has been nominated for more than two dozen Regional Emmys. He has also been also been honored with the “Great Alumni Award” from Mount Lebanon High School.
Besides his professional work, Alby is actively involved in the community. As of 2024, he is active with the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, and its affiliated charity, United Cerebral Palsy. He is an active board member of the UCP/Class Advisory Board and even hosts an annual Alby Oxenreiter Golf Classic to benefit the MSSS. Furthermore, he serves as the annual emcee for the Golden Apple Awards dinner, which recognizes outstanding teachers in the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese.

According to the article he had the surgery in June 2023 after developing a major blood infection that traveled to his heart. In the surgery, the surgeon replaced two heart valves, but other complications from the surgery delayed his recovery. As of 2024, Oxereiter is fully recovered and back in action.
