Anthony Romano Biography
Anthony Romano is an American News Personality working at WDBJ7 News serving as a Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter since he joined the station in July 2019. Formerly, Romano worked at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri as a Sports Producer and Anchor.
Education | Career
Anthony received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast sports journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2018. In addition, he graduated from Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in statistics. While there, he worked for his school television station, MUTV, as the sports director. He covered athletics and the 2015 student protests in addition to hosting Triple Play, a sports game show. Numerous national publications, including Reuters, have highlighted his work. Romano is presently performing his duties as a weekend sports anchor and reporter for the WDBJ7 station since he secured a position at the network in July 2019. He has covered local high school and college sports, such as ACC basketball and football, for Your Hometown Station. In addition, he also reported on the 2019 Virginia men’s basketball team’s journey to the national title, which included the Minneapolis Final Four.
Anthony began reporting news in the New River Valley (NRV) for WDBJ7 in May 2018 before moving on to sports coverage. He was a member of the news and sports crew at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, where he covered high school and University of Missouri athletics. Additionally, he also served at MUTV 23 as a sports director from August 2014 to May 2017. At the station, he led a staff of 20-30 students and helped teach them how to shoot video, edit on Final Cut Pro, operate a sound mixer, and write web stories for the campus TV station.

Romano loves New York sports, especially the Knicks, Yankees, Giants, and Rangers. He frequently watches games in his free time (and probably tweets about them, using the handle @ARomanoWDBJ). In addition, he likes to travel, play golf, and take in his new surroundings in Southwest Virginia! Anthony, a Roanoke local, is eager to share the tales of the athletes in Southwest Virginia!
