Brandi Cummings Biography
Brandi Cummings is an award-winning TV News Anchor and Reporter, Motivational Speaker, and Author. As an Anchor and reporter, she is currently working for KCRA 3, serving as an anchor on weekend mornings. In addition, Brandi has been self-employed as a Real Estate Investor since January 2023.
Education
Brandi earned her Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Lusell College. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University, where she was recognized as an alumna on May 22, 2013, under the title “Clark Atlanta University Alum for a Day.”
Brandi As An Intern
Cummings began her broadcasting career as a summer intern at Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters from May to July 2002. She then worked briefly as a Casting Assistant at MTV Network. Later, she interned at the Weather Channel from May to July 2003, followed by an internship at FOX 5 Atlanta WAGA-TV, where she worked for one year.
Brandi later became a TV producer at WRDW-TV from June 2004 to September 2007. She produced noon, weekend, and 5 pm newscasts and coordinated the 5-hour live coverage of James Brown’s Memorial Service. Afterward, she interned in marketing at Abshire Public Relations for three months.
Career
Cummings then moved to WTOC-TV, where she held the position of Morning Anchor from September 2011 to June 2014. During this time, she reported on distinguished educators and hosted 3.5 hours of news daily on the market’s leading morning newscast.
Brandi also served as an Adjunct Professor at Hampton University, where she taught for eleven months. Her responsibilities included educating students in journalism and communications, focusing on essential skills such as reporting, writing, and critical analysis for public dissemination. Additionally, she directed news segments for Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communication television broadcasts.
Cummings transitioned to her next role as a Special Event Producer at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), where she worked on a one-month contract. She was responsible for producing the 2017 NABJ Opening Ceremony. Following her time at NABJ, she joined Lasell College as an Adjunct Professor for three months. During this period, she taught graduating students in a seven-week intensive online course, focusing on media relations theory and practice.
Brandi’s next position was at WAVY-TV 10, where she served as both an Anchor and Managing Editor for one month. In this role, she assisted upper management in leading a team of 15 members and collaborated closely with producers to develop newscast content, including coverage of breaking news. Following this, Brandi secured a job at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) on a one-month contract, where she worked as the producer for the 2019 NABJ Convention Opening Ceremony.
Cummings started a new job as a self-employed real estate investor in January 2023. She’s focusing on investing and has a lot of experience in this area. She’s good at negotiating deals and building strong relationships. Her goal is to make sure her clients are happy and that her business keeps growing.
KCRA 3
Brandi joined KCRA 3 in April 2018 serving as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor, a position she held for 3 years. In March 2021, she was promoted to a weekend evening anchor and reporter and served in this position for only one year. Currently, Cummings has served the station in the capacity of a morning news anchor and general assignment reporter since January 2022. It has been a blissful 5 years and still counting, do not forget that her presence in the station has always been felt since there has been growth in performance since she joined the KKCRA 3 team.
