Christine Sloan Biography
Christine Sloan is an American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working at WCBS CBS News, New York affiliate, serving as a Correspondent since she joined the station in December 2022. Formerly, Sloan worked at ABC News as an anchor and freelance reporter.
Education
Sloan received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of The Channels, the college newspaper that won awards, while she was a student at Santa Barbara City College. In addition, Sloan enjoys cooking a lot and has multiple certifications from the French Culinary Institute (which is now the International Culinary Institute, in New York City.
Career
Christine is currently performing her duty as a correspondent for WCBS News since she became part of the network in December 2022. In January 2023, Sloan returned to work at the station following her initial tenure at the station from 2004 to 2016.
Christine worked as a freelance anchor and correspondent for ABC News, serving as a multi-platform journalist on a variety of shows, before joining CBS 2 New York again. She also developed and presented the culinary program “Restaurant Hunter” for Verizon’s FiOS 1 News in New Jersey from 2016 to 2019. Christine included mom-and-pop eateries in the Garden State in addition to restaurants run by famous chefs.
As a reporter for InsiderNJ, Sloan covered New Jersey lawmakers and authored investigative pieces. She has received six Emmy nominations and a New Jersey Press Association Award. With strong ties to New Jersey, Sloan was listed as one of the “50 Most Powerful People in NJ” by PolitickerNJ, the defunct online publication.
Throughout her career, Christine has covered a great deal of breaking news, including Superstorm Sandy, the George Washington Bridge lane closures, the September 11th attacks, and the resignation of New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey. In addition, she has covered significant court cases and six governors of New Jersey. She began her career in Union City, New Jersey, at Cablevision’s North Hudson News, and later worked in Philadelphia for NBC 10 and News 12 New Jersey.
