Daniel Grimes Biography
Daniel Grimes is an American journalist currently working at Spectrum News as a Political correspondent since joining the station in February 2024. Earlier, Grimes was working for WDBJ7 as a Morning News Anchor until January 2024 when he left the station.
Education
Grimes went to the University of Virginia in 2008 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in American Government and Sociology in 2012. He later went to Relay Graduate School of Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and Teaching in 2014. Daniel did not stop there, his quest for education sent him to Northwestern University in 2018, and in 2019, he was done with a Master’s degree in Journalism.
Internship
Grimes joined Primescape Solutions, Inc. working as an Intern HR Assistant and served there briefly then left for Breakthrough New York. He again had a brief stop there serving as an intern teacher. For almost one year, Daniel worked at Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at UVA also as an intern where he took the role of organizing a database of alumni and current participants among other duties. Additionally, Daniel was lucky to briefly work for Fox News as a College Program Intern within the Washington D.C. Metro Area.
Daniel as a Teacher
Grimes joined Educators for Excellence as a School Leader in August 2012 and worked there for about 2 years taking different roles that were accorded to him. Before his time here, Grimes was a History Teacher at Teach For America where he worked for over 3 years.
Another place Daniel had a stop is at Uncommon Schools where he joined in Jun 2015 and served briefly as an Associate Director of Recruitment. During the same time, he was also working as a Correspondent for Slay TV, he worked here for over one year before transitioning to broadcasting.
Broadcasting Career
While Daniel was still a teacher, he also worked as an On-Air Host and Producer at Daniel’s Desk, he began this job in August 2016 until 2019. This was his broadcasting desk where he Developed, wrote, shot, and produced his own talk show. The show involved many other duties and he did them successfully.
Daniel then left his desk to go to work at The Illinois Channel as a Washington Correspondent. He held this position briefly before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia Area. He landed a job at NBC29 WVIR-TV as a Weekend Morning News Anchor and Reporter where he worked for over two years.
Grime’s next broadcasting job was working as a Morning News Anchor at WDBJ7, he served here for almost 3 years. He left the station in January 2024 and landed another job at Spectrum News as a Political correspondent where he works to date.

Grimes was born and raised in Winchester, his mother died in 2021and he posted the sad news on April 20, 2021, on his Twitter account stating that God had called his mum home. Further, he said that she was the most loving and caring person. Having an opportunity to call her mum was something he did not take for granted.
