Education | Career
Lyden attended and graduated from Fairview High School in May 2011. He then graduated from Central Michigan University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. While in college he anchored the school’s award-winning news station, News Central 34. Additionally, he called CMU Women’s Basketball, CMU Baseball, and CMU Softball on the student radio station Moore Rock Radio.
He then interned at WWTV and was later hired as a full-time reporter. He currently anchors the station’s Noon and 5 newscasts. During his time at 9&10 News, he has been recognized as one of the top reporters and anchors in the state by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Michigan Associated Press. Additionally, he was honored by the Michigan AP for his coverage of the Baby Kate trial in Ludington in October 2016.
Furthermore, Lyden’s investigative reporting has also garnered awards from across the state; for instance, the MBA honored him for his 2018 investigation into financial double-dipping allegations at a northern Michigan school district. In 2022, he won his first Emmy for his reporting on the Holy Childhood Native American Boarding School in Harbor Springs. When off his duties, he loves exploring the Michigan Area and having a good time outdoors.
