Mitchell attended and graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She began her career as a sports anchor at NESN. In May 2000 she joined CLTV Chicago-Tribune Broadcasting as a Sports Anchor and Reporter. She served CLTV for 4 years and 7 months leaving the station in November 2004.
Mitchell currently serves as a weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter for FOX 9 in the Twin Cities. She joined the station in November 2004 and is not only the station’s host of FOX 9 Sports Now but also the Viking beat reporter covering the team for Vikings GameDay Live, the Vikings Post Game Show, and Vikings Live for NFL Thursday Night Football.
Before her on-air career, she worked behind the scenes for ESPN and CBS Sports. Dawn also served as a sideline reporter for Big Ten Network. Over the years of her professional career, she has had the chance to cover five Super Bowls. Besides work, she is active in the community and believes in giving back to the community.
