Koharik studied at the University of Missouri-Columbia between 2019 and 2023 and acquired a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Julie learned to report and produce in her freshman year. While at the institution she was a member of Honors College, Kappa Alpha Theta, Missouri Students Association, and Walter Williams Scholar.
Julie joined NBC Universal in June 2022 as an Intern on the TODAY Show for 3 months until August 2022. During the same period, she was a Campus Tour Guide between February 2020 and April 2023 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She took prospective students, parents, and faculty on tours of the University of Missouri. Julie joined KOMU 8 & Mid-Missouri CW in December 2021 working as a Weekend Evening Anchor and Reporter. As a reporter, she was an approved producer, Edit reporter, and Manager reporter. As an Anchor, she was a Solo anchor on two evening programs and the morning, evening, and midday newscasts. She held these positions for over 2 and a half years. In the same period, Julie was also an Executive Producer, a position she held for 3 years until May 2023.
