Kate Wentzel Biography
Kate Wentzel is an American Meteorologist working for WPTV First Alert Weather since rejoining the station in March 2021. She worked at WPTV first then left for NewsChannel 5 where she worked in the late 1990s as an assignment desk editor.

Kate attended Palm Beach Atlantic University in downtown West Palm Beach, where she graduated Cum Laude from the honors program. Later, she enrolled in Mississippi State University’s broadcast meteorology program, graduating with the Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in 2002.
Having been born in San Diego, Kate spent most of her childhood in the midwest, both the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from university, she began her meteorology career at Florida’s News Channel in Tallahassee.
She later moved to WSVN in Miami before going to California working as the chief meteorologist at KEYT in Santa Barbara. Her next stop was KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles and she also worked at WPBF in West Palm Beach for ABC and CBS affiliates.
Besides being very learned, Wentzel has earned the National Weather Association Seal of Approval and the American Meteorology Society Seal of Approval. Further, she loves participating in sprint triathlons and playing pickleball.
