Kiara Patterson is an American multi-skilled journalist working as a reporter at 13 ON YOUR SIDE in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She joined the channel in January 2024, after being the President of Howard University Associates of Black Journalists (NABJ Collegiate Chapter).
Education | Career
After graduating from Shaker Heights High School in June 2020, Kiara pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Howard University until December 2023. Patterson currently works as a News Anchor at 13 ON YOUR SIDE since January 2024.
As an intern, she worked as a reporter at Bayou Beat News for approximately 5 months until August 2021. She then packed her bags to DC Jobs With Justice once again serving as a Communications Intern. NBC Universal was her next internship stop, she joined in June 2022 serving briefly and taking different roles there before landing a research job at NBCU Academy.
After her short stay at NBCU Academy, Kiara moved to the District of Columbia, to serve as an intern at CNN in their ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.’ Her internship journey did not end there, in June 2023, Kiara joined CBS and served there for 3 months as the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell. Patterson’s next professional job was at the Howard University Association of Black Journalists (NABJ Collegiate Chapter where she served as the President. She served in this station for about 3 years then in December 2023 she left after getting her current job where serves as a News Reporter.
