Christiansen attended and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Degree in Journalism. She began her professional career as a writer and associate producer for the 6 a.m. news at 9NEWS. Later on, she transitioned to general assignment reporter.
Kim was later promoted to Saturday Morning Anchor and 5 and 10 pm weekend anchor with Ward Lucas. She currently works as the station’s Weekend Anchor. Over the years of her professional career, she has won seven Heartland regional Emmy awards for spot news, news writing, and news reporting.
Besides her professional career, Kim is devoted to fighting Cancer and spreading cancer awareness. She serves as the spokesperson for the Buddy Check9 Program and speaks to dozens of community groups about the importance of self-exams and mammography.
Kim’s dedication to spreading cancer awareness comes as a result of her sister being diagnosed with cancer in 2005. She took the initiative to spread awareness of the disease and has even taken an active role in 9NEWS’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. The Buddy Check program has been nominated for a National Community Service Emmy Award.
Christiansen is a former Miss Colorado and even won a special talent award at the Miss America Scholarship pageant. Working in her hometown is an honor to Kim, and she is grateful for this. Working in Denver, Colorado brings her close to family.
