Education | Career
Kyle graduated from Glencoe High School and then joined Washington State University, earning a BA from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication. Kyle participated in the Journalists Law School at Loyola Law School in 2014 and the fellowship condensed core law-school subjects into a seminar taught by Loyola Law faculty, practicing attorneys, legislators, and judges.
Additionally, Kyle was selected for the prestigious Kiplinger Fellowship where he studies with journalists from around the world at the Ohio State University. After graduating, his first job was at KDRV-TV in Medford, Oregon. In 1996, Kyle moved to Bend, Oregon to work as a morning anchor for KTVZ-TV. He then served as a reporter for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked from 1996 to 2000.
In 2000, he joined KGW where he now serves as an investigative news reporter. He has since covered numerous stories that have hit national and international headlines including the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami. Additionally, he reported live from New York City on the anniversary of 9/11 and spent nearly a month covering the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.
His career has prompted him to travel to various countries including Germany and Korea. Iboshi has received numerous awards and recognitions over the years of his career. He received an Emmy award for his special report on Japanese tsunami debris in 2013.
In 2020 he was awarded the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section’s Award of Merit for his coverage of consumer protection issues. As of 2024, Iboshi is an active member of AAJA and Investigative Reporters & Editors. When free he enjoys cooking, traveling, and golfing.
