Education | Career
Collins joined Florida State University in 1994 graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. He then attended and graduated from Mississippi State University with a Degree in Broadcast Meteorology in 2000. He began his career as a Weeknight Meteorologist at Florida’s News Channel where he worked for a year and 11 months from June 1998 to April 2000.
Mark’s next stop was WFOR CBS 4 Miami where he worked as an Evening Meteorologist for a year. He left the station in April 2001 joining NBC 6-WTVJ in Miami Florida. After 2 years and 1 month, Mark left NBC 6 joining WTLV in Jacksonville, Florida as a weeknight Meteorologist.
Mark first joined News4JAX in October 2010 as an on-air meteorologist but left the station in October 2011. He took on a new role as weekend meteorologist for WTSP-TV Channel 10 News in St. Petersburgh, Florida. Mark returned to News4JAX in September 2016 and currently serves as the station’s on-air meteorologist.
Collins is honored to be part of the News4JAX team and is thrilled to serve the Florida folk. Some of his career highlights include becoming the first AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in Jacksonville and flying aboard NOAA’s hurricane hunters. When off his duties he loves spending time with his family and having a good time together exploring the area.
