Kitchens attended and graduated from Mississippi State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. After graduating he joined BAMWX LLC as a Meteorologist in Greenwood, Indiana. He joined the station in June 2017 and after 2 years and 7 months, he left the station in December 2019.
Kitchens currently works as a Morning 5-7 am and Noon Meteorologist at WMBD-TV in Illinois. He has been part of the station since October 2023. Some of his most memorable stories included interviewing a 100-year-old crossing guard and sitting down with a barber who celebrated 60 years of cutting hair.
Before joining his current station, Nathan spent four years at Hometown Stations in Lima, Ohio, as a weekday morning meteorologist and news reporter. Before starting in the news industry, Nathan spent his first couple of years out of school as an operational meteorologist for BAM Wx in Greenwood, Indiana.
Nathan grew up in the small town of Martinsville, Indiana, just southwest of Indianapolis. His passion for weather began in 2nd grade when a September tornado completely changed the landscape of his hometown. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys outdoor activities like biking and landscaping. He also leads worship at his home church in Indiana.
