Education | Career
Hill graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio, TV, and Speech Communication. He then joined Mississippi State University in 1989 and graduated in 1991 with a Certificate in broadcast meteorology. Additionally, he holds the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. Before starting his career, he served on the NWA certification board for more than five years.
In 2009 Hill founded PortlandWeather.com LCC which is an online weather site for Northwest weather. Today the app is trusted by many and has even gone on to be a leading forecast option for Mt. Hood Weather. Before joining his current station, he served as a lead forecaster at KATU and KPTV.
Hill now serves as a Weekday Evening Meteorologist for KGW in Portland, Oregon. Over the years of his career, Rod has won numerous awards and recognitions. He has achieved Emmy awards for best meteorologist and three Associated Press awards for best weathercast in Oregon. When free he enjoys golfing and exploring the Northwest area.
