Ron Terrell Biography
Ron Terrell is a 5x Emmy Award-winning American Journalist working at FOX 23 News serving as an Anchor since he joined the station in June 2004. Prior to his current role, Terrell served as a Sports Director at the station. Formerly, Terrell worked at KOCO 5 as a Sports Director.
Education | Career
Terrell studied at the University of Oklahoma from 1990 to 1994 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. He is currently performing his duties at FOX 23 News station as a Morning News anchor since June 2004. He co-anchors FOX23 News in the morning and FOX23 News in the evening. On www.FOX23.com, he also served as host of the web series “Burger Brothers.”
After working as the sports director for over two years, covering big events including the NCAA Tournament and the 2005 Orange Bowl, Ron left the sports department to take the anchor chair. He was awarded the OAB Award for Outstanding Sportscast in 2005 for his work on “FOX23 Sports Buzz.” He began hosting responsibilities for Oklahoma State University’s coaches shows in 2005.
Terrell was the Sports Director at KOCO in Oklahoma City before. Covering events such as the 2001 US Open, 2002 Final Four, 2003 Rose Bowl, and Dallas Cowboys football, his greatest moment as a sports writer was when he followed the Oklahoma Sooners to victory in the 2001 Orange Bowl, a national championship. In 2004, he earned the AP Best Sportscast award and participated in three OU football specials that garnered OAB Awards.
Prior to becoming a weekend sports anchor, Terrell started his career at KTEN as a sports reporter in southeast Oklahoma. He covered the 1999 Oklahoma City tornadoes and the Oklahoma City bombing as part of his vast broadcast expertise. Additionally, he co-hosted a number of radio shows in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

In addition to attending concerts and athletic events—including his annual heartbreak, the Detroit Tigers—Ron enjoys basketball, golf, skiing, and other sports. He enjoys spending time with his kids and wife. During his free time, and occasionally takes the stage in regional theater plays as well.
