Hurtig joined Bradley University in August 2017 and graduated in Ma 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Television Arts. Before journalism, she was a Singer and Performer at Timeless Music Review in Antioch, Illinois for 4 years from September 2016 to August 2020. In college, she was a news anchor at the university’s station and a director and master control operator at WEEK-TV.
Hurtig currently serves as a Weekday Morning Anchor at WMBD This Morning at 5 and 6 am and Good Day Central Illinois on WYZZ at 7 and 8 am. She joined the station in June 2021 as a Digital Reporter. In December 2021 she was promoted to On-Air Reporter. Hurtig assumed her current role in May 2023.
Aside from her work, Hurtig has been involved in the community and lends a helping hand whenever possible. She was crowned Miss Peoria Metro through the Miss Illinois/Miss America program in January of 2022. Additionally, she has spent time at local food pantries, educating others about the importance of giving back.
When off her duties, Hurtig enjoys reading, binge-watching TV shows, blasting music in her car, and cooking. Recently, she acted in “In The Heights” put on by the Peoria Players.
