Steve Minich is an American Emmy Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Weekend Morning Anchor at WMTW in Portland, Maine. He has been part of the station since 1991 and hosts “Total Maine with Steve Minich” Sunday Mornings at 10:30 am. With over 5 decades of television experience, Minich is honored to serve the Maine people and ensure they stay informed on the daily happenings of the region.

Minich attended and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. He currently serves as a Weekend Anchor at WMTW in Portland, Maine. He has been part of the station since 1991 and hosts “Total Maine with Steve Minich” on Sunday Mornings at 10:30 am.
While Steve reports on a wide variety of news, his passion continues to be featuring the people, places, and products that make Maine such a special place to live, work, and play. Along with his weekly show, Steve produces three special features each week. His Hometown Maine series airs on Mondays during WMTW News 8 at 4 p.m., Made in Maine on Wednesdays at 4 p.m., and new to 2019, his CommUNITY Champion segments each Friday at 6 p.m.
Steve began his professional career at WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked for 11 years as a sportscaster. His hard work over the years has not gone unnoticed and he has received numerous awards and recognitions. His reporting has earned him an Emmy Award as well as numerous awards from the Associated Press and Maine Association of Broadcasters.
In 2021, the Maine Association of Broadcasters named “Total Maine” the best locally produced program in Maine. When off his duties, Steve loves spending time outdoors. He is an avid outdoorsman and in wintertime, he can be found skiing and trekking through the woods on snowshoes. In the summer he enjoys climbing a mountain or playing Pickleball.
