Steve Weagle Biography
Steve Weagle is an American-Canadian certified broadcast Meteorologist working as the Chief Meteorologist at WPTV in Florida, USA. Weagle has been working in this station for more than 25 years after joining in 1998. Before joining WPTV, he worked for CTV and the Weather Service.
Education | Career
After graduating from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Physics in 1988, Steve furthered his studies at Dalhousie University. Four years later, he attained a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology.
Steve currently works as the Chief Meteorologist at WPTV since 1998, in 2023, he celebrated his silver jubilee working at the station. It was such a beautiful party that WPTV gifted him and his current and former colleagues sent him messages of congratulations.
In his line of duty, Steve has done his job with so much passion which has not gone unrecognized. He has garnered numerous accolades for his dedication to his craft. Steve earned the highest seal ever awarded, the CBM Seal from the AMS, which is bestowed upon television meteorologists. Moreover, in May 2016, he was honored with the Governor’s Hurricane Conference Media Award by the State of Florida Emergency Operations.
Continuing his remarkable career trajectory, Steve received a Suncoast Emmy nomination in January 2017 for his South Florida Emergency Operations coverage. Beyond his professional achievements, he has been a committed volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 25 years. Additionally, he actively supports multiple local charities and engages with viewers to educate them about hurricane preparedness.
