Susan Koeppen Biography
Susan Koeppen is an American Emmy Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a 4 pm Anchor at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is also the president of Susan Koeppen Media since January 2021. She joined WPXI in August 2021 after working as a News Anchor for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, PA.
Education | Career
Koeppen attended and graduated from Syracuse University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. After graduating she took on a job as a Reporter for WNYT-TV where she worked for 8 months. She left the station in February 1995 joining WKTV-TV as a reporter. She was later promoted to Weekend 6 and 11 pm anchor. After 11 months she left the station in December 1995.
In February 2000 Susan joined as an Anchor and Call 4 Action Reporter for WTAE-TV. She served the station for 4 years and 6 months and left the station in July 2004. Her next stop was CBS News where she served as a Consumer Correspondent for 7 years and left the station in June 2011.
Before joining WPXI-TV, Susan founded Susan Koeppen Media where she works as a motivational speaker, emcee, and moderator for local and national events. She previously anchored newscasts for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. Koeppen now serves as the anchor of Channel 11 News at 4 PM. Additionally, she anchors the Breaking News Desk for Channel 11 News at 5 PM.
Susan is widely recognized and is an award-winning journalist who has been honored with 10 Emmy Awards. She is also a three-time recipient of the Gracie Allen Awards. Susan was the first local reporter to arrive at the Flight 93 Crash on September 11th in Shanksville, PA. When free, she enjoys traveling and has been to every continent except Antarctica and her favorite activities include tennis and skiing.

Health | Cardiac Arrest
While training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon in 2011, Koeppen suffered cardiac arrest. Fortunately for her, two medical students, who were driving by, gave her CPR and firefighters shocked her heart with an AED.
Now fully recovered, she is a national spokesperson for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation. Koeppen works closely with the American Heart Association and has told her story on several national talk shows.
