Tom Wills Biography
Tom Wills is an America Emmy Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as an Evening Anchor for News4JAX in Jackson, Florida. He has been part of the station for more than 40 years and he enjoys every bit of his work. Wills comes to News4JAX after working as a reporter for WTOP in Washington.
Education | Career
Wills attended and graduated from American University with a Degree in Journalism. He currently serves as an Evening Anchor for News4JAX. He has been part of the station for more than 4 decades. Before joining his current station, he served as a reporter for WTOP in Washington.
During his tenure in WTOP, Tom covered events like the Martin Luther King assassination riots, Bobby Knnedy’s funeral, the Supreme Court hearing on the Papers, and President Richard Nixon’s departure from office.
Wills also served as a part-time instructor at American University, teaching reporting. Since joining his current station, Tom has had the privilege of interviewing every president since Jimmy Carter. Tom loves the fact that every day of his job is a whole new experience.
His hard work over the years has not gone unnoticed and he has received numerous awards and recognitions. He has received two Florida Emmys and shared two Columbia Dupont awards for documentary reporting. In 2018, Florida Associated Press Broadcasters honored him with its Legacy Award.
Besides his professional work, he is also an avid sports fan and enjoys watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. When off his duties, he loves spending time with his family as for him what comes first after his life is family.
