Tony Aiello Biography
Tony Aiello is an American News personality working for WCBS-TV in Manhattan, New York City taking the role of a reporter. He joined the station in October 2002, this was after working at WNBC New York for over 4 years.
Education/Career
Aiello went to Indiana University where he graduated with a degree in telecommunications in 1985. During his time there, he had a great opportunity of being a brother of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. In addition, he joined the prestigious Indiana University Student Foundation Steering Committee.
Tony currently works for WCBS-TV as a reporter, previously, he served in the top syndicated business show, “The Wall Street Journal Report,” and was the national correspondent for Dow Jones Television. This was a new station, he began here in 1996. He additionally worked at various stations in TN, Greenville, SC, Milwaukee, WI., and Nashville where he started using the name “Tony” on-air.
Before coming to Nashville, Tony was using the name “Carm,” he was by then working in Virginia, Winchester, Charlottesville, South Carolina, and Greenville.
There is a story told in the Broadway show “Come From Away” that saw Tony and his wife diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, from a plane on September 11, 2001. He says that this experience made him appreciate Canada and its people.
Aiello appeared in an episode of Snapped on the Oxygen Network in 2006 where he gave his comment on the case of a lady who was accused of stabbing her husband. Further, on Court TV, Tony appeared and discussed high-profile criminal cases that he had covered.
In The Community
Aiello likes to give back to the community, as such he actively participates in Italian-American charities and community groups such as the Italian-American Forum of Westchester County. Tony was a trustee of ArtsWestchester and board secretary of the Westchester Philharmonic. They presented him with its “Voice of the Arts Award” lately. Tony also represents WCBS at many community events where he helps in raising awareness and funds for various groups such as the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence, the March of Dimes, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
There was a Westchester County’s official ceremony in 2002 to mark the first anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks and Tony proudly led the event. Further, he delivers keynote speeches for groups like the National Parks Service, the Sons of Italy, and the Enrico Fermi Scholarship Foundation. Additionally, Aiello has been supporting The Christophers and has also been their presenter for a long time at their prestigious awards ceremony honoring media that “uplift the human spirit.”
