Byron Miranda Biography
Byron Miranda is an American Emmy award-winning journalist and meteorologist at PIX11 where he covers the 6 to 11 a.m. Morning News on weekdays. He was earlier working for the NBC station WMAQ in Chicago as the weekday meteorologist.
Education
Byron was a student of communications at California State University, East Bay where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree. In addition, he has also undertaken a course in broadcast meteorology program at Mississippi State University.
Career
Miranda’s television career journey began when he worked as an assignment editor in Oakland, California. Further, he has had the privilege of working in several major media markets like Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston, and San Francisco. Before becoming a television meteorologist, he was a police officer in Oakland as well as an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force.
Byron joined PIX11 in New York City on June 19, 2017, after working at NBC station WMAQ in Chicago as a weekday meteorologist (1998-2002, 2014–2017). Before that, he worked at KNBC in Los Angeles as a meteorologist. He was also the chief meteorologist with KCBS in Los Angeles (2002–2005), and KGTV in San Diego (2009–2011). Additionally, Byron has made national coverage at CNN as a meteorologist for the network in Atlanta.
Byron’s good work has not gone unnoticed, he has won four Emmy Awards, has also won the best meteorologist award, and has also been named the “Best Weathercaster in Southern California” at the Golden Mike Award.
