McGinness is a proud 2001 graduate of Penn State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. His first assignment took him to Rock Island, IL where he joined WHBF as a reporter, photojournalist, and meteorologist. Chris joined WHBF in July 2001 and after 2 years and 1 month, he left the station in July 2003.
Chris then joined Independent Network News as a Chief Meteorologist working for 2 years and 6 months before leaving the network in December 2005. He also serves as a Morning Meteorologist for WDJT CBS 58 in Milwaukee. Before joining his current station Chirs served as a freelance Meteorologist for KOIN-TV. He now serves as a weekend morning meteorologist for KGW.
Besides his anchoring roles, he also covers environmental reporting, and coming back to Portland is an honor for him as Portland is his roots as a meteorologist. He also hosts the morning series “Driving Me Crazy” and is also the station’s transportation reporter. Chris is also an avid runner and has completed 9 marathons.
