Eric Burke Biography
Eric Burke is an American Weather Forecaster working at WAFF TV serving as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist since 2022. He first joined the station in September 2017 as a Weekend Meteorologist. Formerly, Burke worked at WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky as a Meteorologist.
Education | Career
Burke received a minor in broadcast journalism in addition to his Bachelor of Science in meteorology at Northern Illinois University. He was a reporter and meteorologist for NTC News Tonight, a student-run television channel, while he was an NIU student. Prior to relocating to the Black Hills of South Dakota, he also worked as an intern at WFLD Fox Chicago and WREX in Rockford, Illinois.
Eric is currently playing his role as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist for WAFF TV since 2022. He previously served as a Weekend Meteorologist upon obtaining employment in September 2017. He has been covering extreme weather and working in broadcast for more than ten years. In 2015, Eric obtained the certification of AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and became a member of the American Meteorological Society.
Burke is thrilled to be a resident of North Alabama, having relocated to the Rocket City from WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the morning meteorologist for KNBN in Rapid City, South Dakota, on weekdays before moving to Lexington. Eric was always fascinated by winter storms and extreme weather as a child.
Eric enjoys playing golf in his spare time and can usually be seen on one of the nearby courses. In addition, he also likes to travel with his spouse, test out new backyard smokers and barbecue recipes, and play goaltender in recreational ice hockey leagues. Burke is an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs, having grown up in Homer Glen, Illinois.
