Education | Career
DeSalvo attended and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in journalism. As a senior, she worked as a freelance radio news reporter for the Associated Press. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree she went on to get her master’s degree in journalism at Roosevelt University.
DeSalvo currently serves as a traffic and news reporter at NBC 5 Chicago. She joined the station in 2017 and is honored to serve her people. Jen began her professional career at WBBM Newsradio 780 where she worked behind the scenes.
Later on, she served as a traffic, news, and weather anchor on several radio and television stations across the state. She also worked as a co-host on 94.7 WLS FM, a traffic anchor and reporter at WLS-AM 890, and a news anchor at WGN Radio 720.
Besides her professional work, Jen is also an avid runner. She is an eight-time Chicago Marathon finisher and has completed over 50 ultra-marathons. Jen has participated in two 100-mile races. When off her duties, Jen serves as a running coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Girls on the Run.
