McDermed attended and graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology in May 2013. She began her career as a meteorologist joining KQTV in St. Joseph, MO, and after a while, she left the station joining the WHO-TV 13 weather team in Des Moines, IA.
McDermed currently serves as a weekday and weekend evening meteorologist at FOX 9 in the Twin Cities. She joined the station in January 2018 and has been working here ever since. She is not only passionate about the weather but also loves the idea of staying active.
Before joining her current station she worked as a Weekday Evening Meteorologist for KMBC-TV/KCWE-TV. She joined the station in December 2015 and left in 2018. Over the years of her professional career, she has tracked down several tornadoes in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
