Jennifer Peñate is an American Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a weekend Evening Anchor and General Assignment Reporter for WCVB in Boston. She joined the station in June 2023 after working as a reporter and anchor for WFLA in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Education
Peñate attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a degree in Journalism and Spanish. From a young age, she had a passion for public and sharing impactful stories that make a difference in the community and she indeed followed her passion.

Peñate Currently serves as a weekend evening anchor and general assignment reporter for WCVB in Boston. She has been part of the station since June 2023 and seems to enjoy her stay there. She began her professional career in 2011 as a reporter for KODE in Joplin, Missouri. During her tenure there, she earned several awards for her reporting including the Missouri Broadcasters Association and the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. Additionally, she was named one of the 2016 Most Influential Women by the Joplin Regional Business Journal.
Before joining her current station she worked for stations like WFLA/WTTA in Tampa Bay, Florida, and KNWA in Fayetteville, Arkansas. While at WFLA/WTTA she created the WTTA’s Spanish Language newscast “Noticias Tampa Hoy,”. She also served as the newscasts managing editor and was also an integral contributor to TampaHoy.com. Peñate won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her digital reporting on TampaHoy.com.
As of 2024, she is an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Gamma Eta Sorority. Besides her professional work, Jennifer is also very active in the community and lends a helping hand whenever she can. She volunteers as an event host and speaker for nonprofit events in the community. When off her duties she loves hiking and going for adventures with her dog, Tango.
