Before joining his current station he worked as a Weekend Anchor and General Assignment Reporter at KAMR, the NBC affiliate in Amarillo, Texas. During his tenure there, he covered everything from political stories to breaking news including a capital murder trial and an active shooter inside a Walmart.
Chavez is one of the few humans who are always curious about the world around them. This curiosity is what led to his career choice. You would describe Chavez as a news nerd, constantly checking his phone for updates about stories happening around his community and across the globe.
Chavez was born in New Orleans but moved to Amarillo at a young age where he was raised. While he is a proud Texan, he’s excited to call Colorado home. When off his duties, he loves exploring Colorado’s beautiful mountains, rivers, and excellent breweries.
