Kimberly McBroom is an American Award-wining News Personality working at WDBJ7 News serving as a Morning Noon News Anchor and Reporter since January 1997. She first joined the station as a Weekend Weather Anchor prior to her current role. Formerly, McBroom worked at WSLQ/Q99 and News/Talk 960 WFIR as a Radio Reporter.
Education | Career
McBroom studied at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from the year 1989 to 1993 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. In 2000, she enrolled at Hollins University and earned her Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies in 2007. While there, for her thesis, Kimberly wrote a historical fiction novel, “The Cameo Ring,” based on a ring passed down for generations in her family.
She is currently performing her duties at the WDBJ7 News station, serving as a morning and noon news anchor and reporter. She obtained employment at the network in September 1994, as a weekend weather anchor. In January 1997, she moved up from Weekend Weather Anchor to Morning Weathercaster and Co-Anchor.
Kimberly spent her high school years acting in a variety of theater shows, which is how she initially became interested in broadcasting. She eventually came to the conclusion that combining her love of performing and journalism with a career in communications would be possible. Before becoming part of the WDBJ7 News station, McBroom worked as a Radio presenter at WSLQ/Q99 and News/Talk 960 WFIR.
Kimberly has been recognized with a couple of accolades, such as the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, Best News Documentary, “Childhood Lost” for Small Market TV, 2016, the Regional Edward R.
