Marion Brooks Biography
Marion Brooks is an American Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Weekday 11 am and 4 pm Anchor at NBC 5 Chicago. She is also a member of the station’s Investigative team and has been part of the station since January 1998. Since 2017 she has co-hosted the NBC 5 production of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Brooks attended and graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She began her career in the Mississippi Delta. She also worked in Jacksonville, St.Louis, Atlanta, and finally Chicago.
Brooks took on her first broadcasting career at WGST, a news talk station in Atlanta. She could never forget her experience there, which helped sharpen her journalism skills. Before joining her current station she served as a reporter and anchor at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Ga.
Career at NBC 5 Chicago
Brooks currently works as a Weekday 11 am and 4 pm anchor at NBC 5 Chicago since joining the station in January 1998. Her work mainly circles issues of social and criminal justice. This passion inspired her to update and add content to the story of Emmett Till in the documentary, The Lost Story of Emmett Till: The Univeral Child.
After the murder of George Floyd, Marion spearheaded the station’s Race In Chicago initiatives. The Race in Chicago television specials earned her and her co-producers national recognition from the National Alliance for Women in Media. Additionally, her series of reports on Sex Trafficking in Chicago has earned her several awards including a national Gracie and a Regional Edward R Murrow Award.
Brooks also did a project titled Survivor’s Project where she did an investigation on sexual violence. That project featured brave survivors of sexual violence sharing what happened to them. The RTDNA recognized the project with the Regional Edward R Murrow Award and the Illinois Broadcasters Association’s Silver Dome Award.
