Mikayla Smith is an American Weather Forecaster working at FOX 23 News serving as a Meteorologist since she joined the station in April 2022. Formerly, Smith worked at Cox Media Group as a Meteorologist.
Education | Career
Smith studied at the University of Oklahoma from the year 2018 to the year 2022 where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with double minors in Mathematics and Broadcast Journalism. She forecasted for OU Nightly, the student-run newscast, for four years while she was an OU student. In her final year, she served as the Oklahoma Weather Lab’s Director of Outreach in addition to being the Senior Weather Producer.
Mikayla is currently performing her duties at FOX 23 News station serving as a Meteorologist since she obtained employment at the network in April 2022. Mikayla is very enthusiastic about informing the DoHH community about weather events through ASL. She spent six years in high school studying ASL, and she’s always looking for new opportunities to learn and develop so that she may be the greatest ally she can be for the DoHH community. Previously, Smith worked at Cox Media Group where she played the role of a weatherwoman for the network.
Hobbies
When Mikayla has free time, she likes to storm chase, read excellent books, check out new restaurants in Green Country, and spend time with her three dogs, Tex, Storm, and Sasha.
