Perla Shaheen Biography
Perla Shaheen is an American Emmy Award-Winning Reporter and MMJ working as an MMJ for ABC10 in San Diego, California. She joined the station in November 2022 after working as a Multimedia Journalist for KGUN 9 On Your Side in Tucson, Arizona.
Education | Career
Shaheen graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, California with a high school diploma. Later on, Shaheen joined the University of California where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While in college she had the opportunity to intern in different organizations and stations like Orange County Register, Seeker Media, KRON-TV, and CNET in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Perla currently serves as an MMJ at ABC10 in San Diego, California. She joined the station in November 2022 and has been working there ever since. Shaheen is honored to serve the San Diego folk and share their stories with the world. She enjoys the idea of diving deeper into any story and is constantly curious about the world around her.
Shaheen began her professional career as a Reporter and News Director at CaITV in UC Berkeley. She served the station for 3 years and 5 months leaving the station in May 2020. Perla also served as a Content Producer for NBC Bay Area in San Jose, California. She left this station in May 2020.
In August 2020 Perla landed a new job as an MMJ and Reporter for KGET-TV 17 in Bakersfield, California. After 9 months she left the station in April 2021. She then moved to Tucson, Arizona where she joined KGUN 9 On Your Side as a Multimedia Journalist. KGUN was her last stop before joining her current station ABC10 in San Diego as a Multimedia Journalist in November 2022.
Shaheen loved her job and believes journalism has the power to bring solace, understanding, trust, and change among people. When off her duties she loves exploring new restaurants and foods in the area or just doing an outdoor activity.
