Sara Whaley is an American News Personality working at FOX 23 News serving as Multimedia Journalist since she joined the station in August 2013. Formerly, Whaley worked at KSWO in Lawton, Oklahoma, as a Reporter.
Education | Career
Whaley studied at Charles Page High School from 2001 to 2004 and later enrolled at the University of Tulsa in 2004. Throughout her time there, Sara played collegiate softball and later on graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media Studies in 2009.
Sara is currently performing her duties as a Multimedia Journalist at the FOX 23 Network since she secured a position at the station in August 2013. Whaley spent three years teaching English in high school before deciding to pursue her passion. That was the first time she joined the FOX23 family.
In August 2012, she started working as an assistant producer and eventually filled in for some reporting. She was hired as a full-time reporter at KSWO in Lawton, Oklahoma, by January 2013. Within the first month, she completed a special report on the issues with feral hogs, which included hog hunting. She realized at that point that she was no longer in Tulsa. One of Sara’s favorite moments of her reporting career, she says, was covering the tornadoes in Moore and Shawnee.
Jokes aside, she will always remember her interview with Johnny Depp during his visit to Lawton for a showing of “The Lone Ranger.” Sara moved back to FOX23 after a six-month stay in Lawton. Whaler is unwaveringly a family girl and enjoys running in her free time. She has actually completed five half marathons and four full marathons. Her favorite is this year’s Route 66 Marathon in November here in Tulsa.
