Chris Wragge Biography
Chris Wragge is an American 21x Emmy Award-winning Journalist working at WCBS CBS News New York affiliate, serving as a reporter and news anchor since he joined the station in July 2004. Formerly, Wragge worked at NBC Sports as a Sports anchor.
Education | Career
Wragge holds a Liberal Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire, where he studied on a football scholarship. He is currently performing his duties as a reporter and news anchor at WCBS station since he secured a position at the station in 2004. Alongside Mary Calvi, Wragge co-anchors CBS 2 News This Morning and CBS 2 News at Noon.
Chris began working for WCBS-TV in 2004 as a sports anchor for the network at five, six, and eleven o’clock. He switched to a news anchor role in November 2006, covering big stories such as the 2008 presidential election, the “Miracle on the Hudson” landing of U.S. Airways Flight 1549, Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to New York, and the Brooklyn tornado. Chris also covered the national recession, the fall of the East Side crane, the scandal that forced Governor Eliot Spitzer to resign, and the reconstruction of the World Trade Center.
21 Emmys have been awarded to Chris, including three in the Best News Anchor category. He and his CBS News colleagues were also honored with an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award for their work on “CBS Reports: Children of the Recession.”
Chris worked for NBC Sports before coming to CBS and his roles included two years of WNBA coverage, four years as a sideline reporter for NBA game broadcasts, and coverage of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. In addition, he covered the PBR, Notre Dame Football, and the PGA Tour for five years. Wragge also served as the anchor of NBC Sportsdesk reports from 2002 to 2004.
Chris formerly worked for Entertainment Tonight for four years as a correspondent. In addition, he has hosted shows on the Travel Channel, DIY, and HGTV. Additionally, he has worked as a broadcaster for WVIT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut; WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire; and KPRC-TV, the NBC station in Houston, Texas.
