Wale Aliyu Biography
Wale Aliyu is a Nigerian-American Anchor and Reporter working as a weekday Evening Anchor at ABC10 in San Diego, California. He joined the station in October 2022 after working as a News Reporter and Anchor for WFXT Boston 25 News in the Greater Boston Area. He anchors the station’s evening newscasts alongside Kimberly Hunt.

Aliyu attended and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor in Convergence Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast. Before college, he had the opportunity to work as a Board Operator at PREMIERE MARKETING GROUP.
Aliyu currently works as an Evening News Anchor at ABC10 in San Diego. He works alongside Kimberly Hunt and has been part of the station since October 2022. Since joining the station he has covered some of San Diego’s biggest stories like the historic floods that hit the area in January 2024.
Besides headline-hitting newscasts and stories, Wale also focuses on the positivity of the black communities in the area and helps raise the soccer culture in the area. Wale enjoys playing basketball, spending time at the beach or the pool, and writing and performing poetry when off his duties. Career
Aliyu began his professional career in Columbia, Missouri working as a reporter for Columbia Missourian. He also wrote and reported for several news outlets there from radio and TV to digital platforms like Newsy.com which is now Scripps News.
Before joining his current station he worked as an anchor and reporter for WFXT Boston 25 News. During his tenure there, he guided viewers through the COVID-19 pandemic, the nightly protests after the murder of George Floyd, and a few deep playoff runs. Besides this, he also created several series showcasing the challenges of policing in Massachusetts before and after 2020.
Before Boston, Wale worked at WNBC in New York as a reporter. He joined the station in July 2016 and left the station in July 2019. While there, he was on the frontlines of breaking news including the two helicopter crashes in the area, the fire at Trump Tower, and multiple New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Aliyu has also worked at WKYC-TV, WKEF-TV, and WRGT-TV. During this period he ended up covering stories like the tragic police-involved shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice and the first journalist Rice’s mother trusted for an interview. Additionally, he covered the 2016 Republican National Convention and the Cavaliers’ 2016 World Championship win.
