Education | Career

DuBois studied at Northwestern University from 1983 to 1987, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. He holds four Doctorates of Philosophy and is a Council on Foreign Relations member. Maurice is currently playing his role as a co-anchor for the weekday 5 pm and 11 pm newscasts since he became part of the network in September 2004.

He has covered stories for “48 Hours,” “60 Minutes Sports,” the CBS News streaming network, “CBS Sunday Morning,” and “CBS Mornings” which was formerly “CBS This Morning”. Additionally, he also fills in as an anchor for “CBS Evening News” at CBS News.

Maurice has covered a wide range of topics, including national political conventions, local news, AIDS in South Africa, the Vatican’s papal change, and witnessing two executions. He has moderated debates for Congress, the NYC Mayor, and the New York Governor in addition to anchoring several live breaking news stories. DuBois worked at WNBC-TV for seven years prior to joining the CBS Network. He was on MSNBC, NBC News at Sunrise, “Today,” “Weekend Today,” “Dateline NBC,” and other NBC News programs. DuBois hosted “Four Stories,” a magazine featuring local heroes, while he was a host at WNBC-TV. He additionally hosted “Mind over Media,” a program on Court-TV that helped students comprehend pictures from the media.

Maurice previously held positions in Sacramento and Chicago. Before transitioning to reporting, he started as a desk assistant at Seattle’s KING-TV in the year 1987. Besides being a news anchor, he has acted in the feature films “Soul Men” and “Kick-Ass,” as well as the popular CBS drama “Person of Interest.”
